J&B Medical, a family-owned was proud to award scholarships to Cedric Robinson, EMS Director at the Cincinnati Fire Department, and Captain Aaron Vance of the City of Monroe Fire Department to attend the University of Cincinnati’s Foundations of EMS/Community Paramedicine program. The scholarships were presented by Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune and City of Monroe Fire Chief John Centers to EMS Director Cedric Robinson and City of Monroe Captain Aaron Vance, respectively, at the Boy Scouts of America in Evandale, OH on Monday, March 12th.
“We’re excited to continue our support for this important program with public safety officials coming together to discuss solutions to keep our communities safe,” said Mary Shaya, President and CEO of J&B Medical Supply, “The scholarships could not have gone to two more deserving individuals who fight every day to combat issues in their local communities. We’re thankful to the University of Cincinnati, its professors and everyone who helps make this critical program a reality.”
The Foundations of EMS/Community Paramedicine program, being held March 12th to March 16th at the University of Cincinnati, is designed to examine best practices in Community Paramedicine, including ride-a-longs with Quick Response Teams visiting the home of those saved by Narcan. Fire and EMS agencies from across the region will come together to combat the issues that communities face each day, including heroin overdoses and frequent 911 calls.
“I enjoy being an agent of change to move the industry I love, fire and EMS, to a higher level,” said Lawrence Bennett, Program Chair of UC Fire Science & Emergency Management.
Bennett hopes that increased public awareness and empowerment will attract attention from more lawmakers, hospital administrators, and any other potential partners.
J&B Medical also supported the crucial program in 2017. Last year’s scholarship recipient, EMS Captain John Williams, went on to start the City of Cincinnati’s hugely successful Quick Response Team (QRT).
